What is shade net or shade cloth?

Must we use shade net or shade cloth?

Do shade nets or shade cloths provide effective protection for plants?

An agricultural shade net, also known as a shade cloth, is a woven or knitted fabric made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that is used to provide shade and protect crops from the sun’s harmful UV rays. It  is often used to cover farm crops to prevent excessive heat and wind damage. Shade cloth netting is commonly used in vegetable and fruit crops, as well as orchards and nurseries.

Shade nets come in different densities and colors, which can help to create specific levels of shade and manipulate the growing environment for plants.

Some common uses of agricultural shade nets include:

  • Protecting plants from excessive heat and light, which can cause stress and reduce growth and yield.

  • Reducing water evaporation from soil, which can help conserve water in arid regions.

  • Shielding plants from wind and hail damage.

  • Creating microclimates for specific plants or crops that require shade or partial shade.

  • Protecting plants from insects, birds, and other pests.

Overall, agricultural shade nets are a useful tool for farmers and gardeners looking to optimize their growing conditions and protect their crops from environmental stressors.

Our loom ‘s maximum width is 40 ft/12m.

Plant shade cloth  has different colors and percentages. The percentage listed is a light diffusion percentage. The amount of light diffusion necessary is based on the type of plant and the climate that you are growing in.We supply 30% to 90% shade cloth in monomono   filament or raffia ,also as tape.

50% shade cloth is a great option for most vegetables. Our 70% shade cloth provides the optimal amount of light diffusion for light sensitive plants.

Shade cloth can be added to any structure. The edges of our shade cloth are unhemmed, giving you the freedom to use our product any way you need.

We also  can sew the edges and inset grommets on it according to your demands.

Popular size:   10′ x300′, 12′ x300′, 20’x300′,30’x50′

                              2m x 50m,3m x100m,4mx100m, 5m x100m.5mx100m,9m x50m

Surely ,all the size can be customized according to your needs.

Before purchasing shade cloth, evaluate the percent light reduction and shade color options. For most fruits and vegetables, 20 to 40% shade is ideal. Cloths with a very low shade percentage (<10%) have a higher risk of tearing under field conditions. Cloths with a high shade percentage (50%+) do not allow adequate light through for healthy plant growth nor do they improve sunburn protection. Shade colors include white, green, black or silver. All colors are equally as effective so the lowest cost is the most effective. Once the season is finished, shade cloth should be removed, carefully folded, and stored in a dark, dry place. With proper installation and storage, most knitted shade cloth has a functional life of 7 to 10 years.

How to  choose shade net cloth for vegetables?

Choosing the right shade net involves considering several factors. First, determine the purpose of the shade net, whether for gardening, outdoor spaces, or livestock protection. Next, the shade percentage needed, as nets come in various densities to block and heat. Finally, consider the size and durability of the net ensuring it fits your specific area and withstands weather conditions.
